Valtrex is used to handle herpes zoster, treat or suppress genital herpes in immunocompetent individuals and is also used to cure cold sores (herpes labialis).
How Taken
Valtrex comes as a pill to take in orally. The usual dosage for treatment of shingles is 3 times daily with 8 hour intervals between the dose, during one week. For treatment of genital herpes it is ordinary taken 2 times daily for 5 days. To treat cold sores, Valtrex is regulary taken only for one day. For best result start using Valtrex as soon as you notice first symptoms. Do not stop taking this drug even if you feel better, without your doctor`s approval.
Additional Information
Avoid letting infected sites come into contact with other people. Contact your therapeutist or pharmacist for additional Information. Wash your hands often with soap to avoid spreading. Valtrex does not stop the spread of genital herpes. It is [[recommended|suggested|prescribed to put condoms during sexual activity to prevent spreading the virus to others.
