Drug Uses
Ortho Tri-Cyclen containing a mixture of estrogen and progestin hormones, which is used for preventing unwanted pregnancy. It can also be used for regulation of the menstrual cycle, for healing symptoms of menopause, or healing of other conditions as recommended by your physician.
How Taken
Ortho Tri-Cyclen comes in tablets to take by mouth. Then take one tablet a day, the time interval between pills should never be more than 24 hours. It is prescribed to take the pills at the same time every day (e.g. before bed, with food intake, or first thing in the morning). If you take your drugs at night, this can reduce nausea or headache that you can experience while taking birth control pills. Avoid missing drugs or starting the pack late. The more tablets are missed the higher the risk to get pregnant. You may have spotting, light bleeding or you may feel sick to your stomach during the first 13 packs of tablets. You should never stop taking drugs if you feel sick. This side effect regulary goes away. If it persists for long, you should call your doctor. If you find it difficult remembering to take the drug at the right time, you should discuss with your physician the use of another birth control method.
