Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for curing of seizures associated with epilepsy. It may also be used for curing nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin can also be used for other situation as suggested by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as prescribed by your doctor. Use Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within two hours before you take Neurontin. Don't suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You can have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new drug, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.
Additional Information
Neurontin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, visit your doctor. This drug should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Don't take less or more or take it more often than recommended by your doctor.
