Drug Uses
Dapsone is used for curing leprosy. It can be used in combination with other medications. It is also used to treat dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, ordinaryly occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It may also be used for other situations as determined by your physician.
How Taken
Use Dapsone as prescribed by your doctor. Take Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you can take it with meal to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, don't take it within two hours before or after using Dapsone. To clear up your infection absolutely, take Dapsone for the full course of medication. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. This drug works best if it is taken at the same time daily.
